Soils and Soil Forming Factors, Basic Soil Morphology, Soil Physical Properties (Texture / Structure / Consistence / Porosity / Bulk Density), Clay Mineralogy, Redoximorphic Features, Soil Water Movement, Permeability Limiting Features, and Hydraulic Assessment.
The speakers presenting these topics are well known and respected in our field with diverse professional backgrounds. We are very excited to hear from Dr. John Galbraith, Dr. Phillip Brown, Jay Conta, Steve Thomas, Joseph Valentine, and Tom Ashton.
A buffet lunch will be provided by Peppers Grill with the cost included in the registration fee.

The day will begin at the G.W. Carver Center, where attendees will register and listen to a presentation on Geology of the Southern Culpeper Basin of the Triassic/Jurassic Newark Supergroup in VA by Robert K. Denton Jr.
We will then make our way to the Cedar Mountain Battlefield (a short 2 minute drive from the Carver Center). The day will consist of soil pit description & interpretation. Ksat tests will be actively running on site. Testing methods and data analysis to be discussed.
The topics discussed in the field aim to help attendees solidify the concepts discussed the day before. Attendance of both days is recommended.
Sandwiches to be provided for lunch. Winning raffle tickets will be drawn while we eat. Winning tickets will earn Munsell inspired glassware and t-shirts with a Munsell Color Book given away as the grand prize!
