When? Wednesday, September 28th -- Thursday, September 29th, 2022 Where? Membership Meeting to be held at the Barnhouse Brewery: 43271 Spinks Ferry Rd, Leesburg, VA Conference Field Day to be held at Lost Corner Farm 43702 Hibler Road, Leesburg, VA
Program Details
There will be a full day of soil descriptions. Topics of discussion will include identifying redoximorphic features, permeability limiting features, pros and cons of using backhoe pits vs. hand augering, and much more!
Most importantly, this conference will have tenured soil scientists present to answer your soil description and interpretation questions through hands on demonstrations.
Mr. Steve Thomas (VDH), Dr. John Galbraith, Mr. Danny Hatch, Mr. Ryan Reed, and a few VT Soil Judgers will be supplementing VAPSS board members in the description of soil pits.

9:00 am -- 10:20 am 1st Pit Rotation
10:30 am -- 11:50 am 2nd Pit Rotation
12:00 pm -- 1:00 pm Catered Lunch
1:10 pm -- 2:30 pm 3rd Pit Rotation
2:40 pm -- 4:00 pm 4th Pit Rotation
Conference to wrap up at 4:00 pm. We may look at additional pits while partaking in libations if we find any interesting morphological features!
There will be an opportunity to earn 6 CEUs for attending this conference

Interested In Attending The Annual Membership Meeting? Come to the Barnhouse Brewery in Leesburg, VA at 7:00 pm. We will be in the private, rented room. The annual membership meeting will consist of conducting board member elections, discussing long & short-term goals for the organization, touching base with members/affiliates about current events concerning soil science, and catching up with old friends! There will be an opportunity to earn 1 CEU for attending this meeting
